Wang Jian didn't actually mind her protests as he was pleased with her reaction.

"I just wanted to cook your favourite meal," Su Xian answered.

The two soon left the kitchen, with a servant quickly approaching the pot and expertly handling the contents in it.

Wang Jian and Su Xian strolled through the courtyard near the kitchen, the air thick with tension. Wang Jian's tone was stern as he spoke, "What's the matter? I expect honesty and no excuses. You know exactly what I am referring to."

Su Xian nervously nibbled on her lips, realizing that he was referring to her unusual behaviour.

"I was deeply concerned, afraid of losing your favour and devoted attention," Su Xian replied candidly.

Wang Jian realized her meaning and suddenly started chuckling. "To Kang Huian?" He asked dryly.

"Yes," Su Xian spoke. She further explained, "I was scared that you would soon grow bored of me and I will lose all your attention.."
